It has been said many times during the Covid-19 lockdown that ‘the building is shut, but the church is open.’ We are doing all we can to keep members in touch with one another.
The services being published regularly (including Morning Prayer every Sunday and live Compline, or Night Prayer, at 9.30pm every day on Facebook) have been a great encouragement to everyone, but they are just a small part of what we are doing during this lockdown. Our clergy continue to minister in every way possible, and many in the parish have volunteered to help support one another in practical and spiritual ways.
We are in touch regularly with everyone on the parish electoral roll (the official list you sign up to as a member of St Mary’s or St Paul’s, quite different from the town’s ‘electoral register’). We cannot be physically together at the moment, but please be assured, especially if you live on your own, that we are here for you.

We’re also working with other groups, churches and agencies in the town and borough to offer practical help.
Prescot FoodBank
Prescot FoodBank is open every Wednesday, from 12 noon to 2pm at the Salvation Army on the corner of Warrington Road and Ash Grove. It is there to provide food for anyone who is struggling financially and cannot afford groceries at the moment. You can drop in at any time during those hours.
If you have everything you need and can donate, imperishable items such as rice, pasta, tea, coffee, UHT milk, tinned food (savoury and sweet) and cereals can be dropped off during the same hours or left at any time in the marked bin inside the entrance to Tesco Extra Prescot.
Knowsley Coronavirus Support Line
The borough has opened a phone line for residents that need advice or support. If you don’t know what help is available, its staff and volunteers can direct you to the right place to meet your needs. The number is 0800 073 0043 (freephone) and is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 2pm on weekends.

Mental Health Support
Knowsley now has a 24/7 mental health support line. Phone 01925 275 309 at any time of the day or night if you or a loved one has an urgent mental health need. Click here for more information on this and related services.
When to Call 111 or 999
The NHS and the emergency services are still there for you when you need them, for both coronavirus and other medical conditions. If you have an emergency, where someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk, you must still feel free to call 999 or go to A&E. More information is here.
The 111 line is for medical problems that are urgent but not life-threatening. Again, more information is available here from the NHS.
If you have coronavirus symptoms (high temperature and/or a new, continuous cough), you must stay at home and not go out. Full information is online at nhs.uk. If you think you have Covid-19 and can’t find the advice you need on the NHS website, 111 can help. As always, if your symptoms are unusually severe or you think your life is in danger, you must call 999.
