Description
We mark the beginning of Lent with this Sung Eucharist, a service with Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes.
The ashes on our forehead are a sign of our humility before God – we come from dust and will return to dust – and penitence, which is sorrow for sin and a desire to make amends. This day marks the first of 40 days of prayer and discipline, leading to Holy Week and Easter.
