Join Us for Candlemas, 3 February

This Sunday, 3 February 2019, we celebrate Candlemas, marking the occasion when Mary and Joseph presented their infant son in the Jerusalem Temple.

There Jesus was fully welcomed into the Jewish faith and heritage of his ancestors. On seeing the child, the prophetess Anna and the elderly Simeon recognised that in Jesus, God’s promise to redeem Israel and bring salvation to all the earth had been fulfilled.

Eucharists take place at both St Mary’s and St Paul’s at 10am, and the choir’s anthem at St Mary’s will be Nunc dimittis (Simeon’s song, according to St Luke), by Frank Henry Shera.
